After completing my first two years of university studies in software engineering, I had the exceptional opportunity to carry out my first work placement at Tink as a UX/UI design intern. This enriching and formative experience enabled me to develop new ways of structuring, coding and building a Design System.

Find out how this professional adventure unfolded and what I learned during my internship!

1. If I had to sum up this internship in 3 words, what would they be?

I'd say: “Become a Tinker”, because, like a Tinker, I was able to push my thinking to another level. In fact, this internship enabled me to see design projects as a whole and better anticipate the possible impacts of my decisions. Otherwise, the 3 other words that come to mind when I think back on my internship at Tink are “collaboration, mutual aid and innovation”.

2. How did I hear about this internship?

I found out about this internship by browsing various ads on LinkedIn. Tink's offer particularly caught my attention because their mission, which focuses on innovation and Web development, perfectly matched my personal and professional interests. When I visited their website, I was impressed by their expertise in digital content production, and by the fact that their customers include major companies such as Metro, Desjardins and VIA Rail. All these factors solidified my desire to apply and join the team!

3. Why an internship at Tink?

I decided to do an internship at Tink for several key reasons:

  • It is a leading company in the digital, content production and UX/UI design fields, renowned for its innovative projects and user-centered approach.
  • The organization embraces values such as innovation, creativity and collaboration, which resonate perfectly with my own aspirations.
  • The working environment is dynamic and fosters continuous learning, which is essential for my personal and professional development.
  • The opportunity to collaborate with experienced professionals and contribute to major projects (I simply couldn't pass that up!).

4. How was my day-to-day life as a UX/UI trainee?

As a UX/UI intern at Tink, my days were varied and rewarding. I regularly attended team meetings where we discussed current projects, shared ideas and organized daily tasks. For me, these meetings were a valuable opportunity to learn from senior designers and to understand the different phases of project development.

At the same time, I was in charge of designing mock-ups and interactive prototypes for various projects using the Figma tool. This responsibility enabled me to put my design skills into practice while exploring new design techniques. In particular, I developed ways of gaining speed and efficiency in the design of our models by implementing reusable components. In this way, I was able to develop new approaches to solving complex design problems.

5. Who would I recommend this internship to?

I would recommend this course to all students or young professionals who are passionate about digital, graphic design, UX/UI design or IT, and who are looking to gain practical experience in a stimulating and dynamic environment. Having lived it, I can tell you that this internship is perfectly suited to those who aspire to work on innovative projects and want to learn from seasoned specialists.

At Tink, people with a creative mind, a strong ability to adapt and an interest in intuitive and aesthetic digital solutions can develop their skills and prepare for a successful career!
