Unrestrained Laughter, a show by the Fonds de solidarité FTQ to thank employers who offer the REER+ through payroll deductions to their employees
To thank companies offering the REER+ through payroll deduction (RSS) to their employees, Fonds de solidarité FTQ and Tink, in partnership with Cartier, joined forces to present an exclusive comedy show for all eligible employees. The virtual event, Unrestrained Laughter, featured comedians Maude Landry, Simon Gouache, and François Bellefeuille. The live broadcast was managed in collaboration with Quebec-based PQM.
Fonds de solidarité FTQ supports the maintenance, creation, and preservation of thousands of jobs by investing in Quebec businesses across all sectors. It also promotes good saving habits among Quebec workers by offering employers a retirement savings solution for their employees. The REER+ payroll deduction program provides an advantageous savings solution with an additional 30% tax savings directly from payroll.
“Fonds de solidarité FTQ wanted to create a loyalty initiative to thank the 12,000 employers who offer payroll deductions to their employees. These companies enable thousands of Quebecers to save for their retirement while supporting the local economy.”
Julie Gosselin, Director of Marketing, Commercialization, and Production at Fonds de solidarité FTQ
The Unrestrained Laughter project posed multiple challenges for all teams involved. Due to health protocols, it was essential to find a way to make the virtual show interactive and lively, offering an exceptional experience to several thousand viewers. The project had several components:
Promotion
Tink developed a digital environment to support promotion and automated marketing, inviting employers who offer RSS to participate and encourage their employees to attend. Through a sequence of reminders and registration follow-ups, the pathway created enabled thousands to join the virtual event.
Broadcasting
The primary challenge was finding a streaming solution integrated with ticketing, supporting thousands of simultaneous connections, providing high-quality capture and broadcast, and offering immediate support for technical issues. After an exhaustive search for the best partner, the Quebec company PQM was selected.
Production
Producing an exclusive online comedy show is a challenge in itself.
“At a distance, the energy of direct interaction with the audience is lost. For this exclusive show, a true TV studio was assembled to ensure optimal production quality.”
Denis Martel, Digital Strategist, Tink
François Bellefeuille, Maude Landry, and Simon Gouache developed their show in partnership with agencies Cartier and Phaneuf, the production company for this project. After a full day of rehearsals to ensure virtual experience quality, the artists performed in front of 200 visible audience members, maintaining the fluidity and dynamism of a live show.
“This project is a prime example of the cross-disciplinary work that Tink can lead, combining digital marketing, live production, and technical challenges. The success lies in our ability to identify and coordinate the various project partners (client, artists, production service providers, and agencies), resulting in a successful event!”
Catherine Lavigne, Project Director, Tink
In the end, the evening was a resounding success for the audience, comedians, and Fonds de solidarité FTQ, with over 6,000 employees registering for the show.
Since 1995, Tink has been developing, implementing, and optimizing digital strategies for its clients, consistently aligning with their business objectives and adapting each project to the unique realities and needs of its partners.
